Catalytic Systems Division converter keychain
In the 1950s, researchers began experimenting with catalysts to clean up vehicle exhaust. Johnson Matthey was well placed to develop the catalytic converter, in which platinum and other metals catalyst the reduction of nitrogen oxides to nitrogen, the oxidation of hydrocarbons to carbon dioxide and water, and the oxidation of carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide. The company made the first vehicle exhaust catalysts in the UK in 1974. Keychain commemorates this groundbreaking work by Johnson Matthey’s Catalytic Systems Division. Source.
