JOHNSON MATTHEY LONDON Oval Logo - Samuel Montagu & Co London Bullion Merchants

Samuel Montagu & Co. was a British merchant bank founded by Samuel Montagu in 1853. It was set up as a bullion brokerage firm and aimed to make money from the Australian gold rush by brokering deals between sellers and buyers. In 1911, it was one of the founding members of the The London Gold Market Fixing Ltd, responsible for determining the official gold price twice a day. SourcePhotos by proaurum-numismatik.de.
